Who Is Jodie? How Does One Become a Cuckoo Clock Designer?

Jodie Davis

You may know me from QNNtv.com, the many books I’ve written, as co-host of Quilt Out Loud! with Mark Lipinski, and my current show, Quilt It! The Longarm Quilting Show sponsored by Handi Quilter.

In about 2007 I traveled to shoot an episode for a quilting show I was ho
sting at Bernina. While there we shot an episode in the Black Forest at a cuckoo clock factory, designing a quilt shop cuckoo clock in the process. My dream come true! I imported a batch of Quilt Shop Cuckoo Clocks at that time, then got busy with QNNtv.com.

Since that first batch quilters have asked me again and again to import more. I did so in 2015, running a Kickstarter campaign. It was incredibly successful; I sold over 150 clocks all through personal posts on Facebook!

The first batch of Backyard Birds Cuckoo Clocks arrived at the close of 2016. The American Barn Cuckoo Clock and The Modern Quilt Cuckoo Clock are making their debut in early 2017, with a Potting Shed and a Christmas Shop to follow. It’s turning into quite a business!
